GMass, a chrome extension for Gmail to send, schedule, and automate email drip campaigns, needed an SEO partner with experience in backlinking, keyword research, technical optimization, and user experience to take their small start up from zero to a few hundred users to a tens of thousands of users.
Chrome extensions presented a unique challenge for optimization because of the user journey. The chrome extension page was ultimately the main page for conversions, and at the time, it was relatively inflexible on most points of technical optimization Additionally, the Gmass site was full of useful information where the majority of the conversion journey would typically take place.
First things first: UX
GMass had plenty of useful articles and pages across its site, but the template where the blog was built wasn't built to convert. With a distinct lack of CTAs in its most viewed pages, we made some suggestions to edit the layout of both the blog and additional key pages across the site for enhanced UX and CRO.
We then combed through keywords to determine a clear path to an ROI: users who expressed a pain-point that gmass could solve VS search volume and LTV.
From there, we leveraged relationships with influential tech bloggers to feature both Gmass's key pages and the chrome extension page to build buzz and a healthy backlink profile. Key features such as "mass email from gmail" were organically mentioned as well as other "scheduled send" features that weren't available on gmail at the time.
A great product and solid SEO program that got great results!
Gmass went from a few hundred users to garnering multi-million dollar annual revenues and tens of thousands of customers. It became one of the biggest mass email gmail extensions and went on to rival Mailchimp.
Total organic sessions went up 146% from 2019-2020
Overall, the ROI for this SaaS extension was over 1,000%
